This is a small, winter themed, mechanical model featuring a minifig skating in a circle and doing an occasional pirouette. The flames of the fire also rotate, adding to the ambiance of the scene.
This model would make a great addition to any winter village display, and a be a companion piece to my Working Ski Hill model.
Movement
Clever mechanics hidden in the base of the model bring it to life. The movement can be controlled by hand, using a crank on the side of the model, or with an optional motor at the back. Both options are illustrated in the video below.
If you want to operate it by hand, or have your own motors, order the manual version. The motorized version includes a Circuit Cubes motor and rechargeable battery box.
Sugar Shack
For those who may not be familiar, sugar shacks are small cabins where sap is boiled down into maple syrup. They’re also known for making a delicious treat by pouring hot syrup onto snow, where it hardens into candy. You can spot this tasty treat displayed on the counter in the shack at the back of the scene.
Details
The model features several charming details, such as a bird nesting in the tree, a mischievous squirrel that can also skate (shown at the end of the video), and winter scenes in relief on the front of the base.
