What does MOC mean?
A LEGO® MOC usually starts with a designer's idea. It could be a building, a vehicle or a machine. The designer works out the structure and the parts list, then makes instructions so other people can build the same model.
Builders like MOCs because they can make something more personal or more technically interesting than the official catalog offers.

How they differ
MOCs are not the same as official sets.
The LEGO Group designs and releases the official LEGO® sets. MOCs come from fans and independent designers. They're usually for people who want a very specific model, a more advanced build or a display piece that doesn't exist as an official product.
MOCs can be small and playful or large and technical. Many use original building techniques you wouldn't normally find in a standard set.

Common questions about MOCs
Who designs MOCs?
Fans and independent designers. When you buy one of our MOC kits, at least 10% of the sale goes to the designer.
Are MOCs official LEGO® sets?
No. The LEGO Group does not design or release them. A MOC can still be built from original LEGO® elements.
Do BuildaMOC kits include the parts?
Yes. Every kit comes with all the parts for the model. The instructions are digital, and we email them to you when your order ships.
Can a company create its own custom MOC kit?
Yes. Send us the idea, quantity and date. We confirm what is realistic before the project moves forward. Projects start from a minimum total project value of $3,500 USD.
