The brief

T.D. Williamson wanted to turn its pipeline inspection technology into something people could build themselves. The project centered on the MDS Pro, with an order of 200 kits for an upcoming conference.

Our job was to translate a complex piece of industrial equipment into a brick model that still felt like their product. We focused on the tool’s distinctive shape and the arrangement of its different sections, finding ways to represent them with original LEGO® elements. The result was a 199-piece kit that gives people a different way to get to know the equipment, by putting it together themselves.

We worked with TDW’s creative team on the presentation, using their artwork for the packaging and pairing it with a printed building guide. That made the model, box and instructions feel part of the same project.

After receiving the kits, someone from the TDW team got back in touch to say they had loved them and ask about making more.
