The brief

Donaldson asked us to develop an excavator with a visible filtration system. The project centered on the machine and the components inside its body. We built the model from original LEGO® elements, using blue bodywork and black tracks. The finished design has 351 pieces and carries Donaldson branding on the machine itself.

A transparent side panel reveals the orange filter and the Streamteq component beside it. Those parts sit inside the body, behind the cab, so the model shows where filtration fits into the excavator. The long boom carries the bucket at its end, with contrasting black and gray elements along the arm. A thin orange stripe runs along the lower edge of the blue bodywork.

The project includes a custom printed box and a 36-page instruction booklet. Both identify the model as the Donaldson Excavator Building Kit and show the same 351-piece count. The production run was 55 kits, with UV-printed parts for the branding. The booklet cover presents the complete excavator, while the model's transparent panel keeps the filtration detail visible after assembly.
