First off, the fact that the slag pot moves is SO COOL! You guys really knocked it out of the park and exceeded expectations!! I bet this is by far the coolest gift anyone brings to the meeting.

The brief

Edw. C. Levy Co. serves steel mills, and much of that work is about slag, the by-product of making steel. Every company at the National Slag Association's annual meeting brings something for the gift bags, and Levy wanted theirs to be a slag-themed kit.

They sent us a concept image and photos from their sites. We designed it as a slag pot that tips forward, with the molten slag in orange, yellow safety rails and a worker in a hard hat beside it. A small plaque on the base reads "National Slag Association - Building a stronger future".

The kit has 237 pieces, a dark box with a glowing pour behind the model, and a printed booklet. The 200 kits had to be at the meeting hotel in Naples, Florida, by September 11, and they shipped by UPS on the 9th.

One change didn't make it in. Levy would have liked the pot more conical than cylindrical, but the parts were already ordered, so it is noted in case they reorder.
