Oh that is so fun! We love it next to the substation. We are rethinking who we are giving these to and now are giving them out to the entire company.

Jodie Flint, Chief Marketing Officer, MICA Steelworks

The brief

MICA Steelworks builds steel structures for the electrical utility industry. Early in 2026 they asked for a small kit of a substation, something their sales team could use at meetings and give out as prizes at trade shows.

We built a section of a substation with its steel frame, the switches and insulators, a tan yard and a worker in a hard hat, all in 238 pieces. The box uses MICA's steel gray and green. The first 75 kits shipped in April.

In September MICA came back for a second model, a Texas V lattice tower in the same style, made to stand next to the substation. Once they saw a render of the two together they changed the plan. The kits are now a holiday gift for everyone at the company: 190 towers and 170 substations, due at MICA by November 23.
