The brief

Hexagon’s MAESTRO is a coordinate measuring machine used in manufacturing to check the dimensions of parts. Their team wanted to turn that precision technology into something customers could build themselves and keep, as a small reminder of the equipment they work with.

We approached it as a miniature product model, keeping the machine recognizable while working within the possibilities of original LEGO® elements. Branded details and a printed building guide connected the finished kit back to the equipment it represents.

The project continued beyond the first order. When planning more trade shows, Hexagon chose to return to the existing model and asked about adding alternative parts so customers could choose what to place on the machine. The next order also called for deliveries in separate batches, with kits allocated to teams in Europe and the United States.

The response reached us from the people receiving them, too. One engineer who had been given a MAESTRO kit wrote to say how impressed he was with our models.
