I understand that you previously worked with my colleague [...] to produce approximately 50 sets for Fugro USA. I am based at Fugro Netherlands and have always been very impressed with the set you produced for her.

Niels Walrave, Team Lead Flood Defense Engineering, Fugro

The brief

Fugro's marketing team in the US needed a small giveaway kit for an event the team was traveling to, with the kits in hand before July 12. The idea was a slice of landscape: what you see on the surface, and the layers of ground underneath that Fugro studies for its clients.

We built it as a block of stacked colors, browns, oranges and yellows for the soil, and blue for the water. On top there is an offshore platform flying the Fugro flag, a red boat, a mountain with a river, a power line, a few houses among the trees, and a small red plane above the peak. The Fugro logo is printed on the parts.

The kit is called the Geo-data Explorer. It has 370 pieces, a custom box and a printed booklet. The 50 kits shipped on July 7, ahead of the deadline.

A month later a team lead at Fugro in the Netherlands wrote to ask about making the same set for Fugro there.
