They were an ENORMOUS success. Everyone involved absolutely loved them, and I've already had several people ask me how to contact BuildaMOC to do their own custom sets.

The brief

Enbridge's EDDE team (Equipment Data Digital Enablement) wanted something to give the people taking part in its Houston Demo Day in early September. They sent us a simple drawing of the project's robot mascot and asked for a small brick version on a stand.

We built the robot as a blocky character, 144 pieces and about five inches tall. The project's round logo sits in the robot's eye. After the first render the team asked for yellow and gold instead of orange, the EDDE name on a plate at the front and the Enbridge logo on the back. All three went in.

The box carries the event name and a short paragraph about the project in Enbridge's own words. The printed booklet opens with a few pages from their team before the building steps start.

There was about a month between the go-ahead and the event. The 150 kits shipped to Houston at the end of August. A few weeks after the event the team asked us to quote another 150.
