MOC guide
A MOC is a custom brick-built model designed by a builder. Here is what the term means, how MOC kits work and why so many builders love creating beyond the standard catalog.
A custom model designed by a builder, not a standard official set.
Good MOCs use normal elements in clever ways to create something new.
We collect the parts and instructions so you can focus on the build.
Meaning
MOC means “My Own Creation”. In the brick-building world, a MOC is a custom model designed by a builder rather than a standard official set.
A LEGO® MOC usually starts with an idea: a building, vehicle, machine, scene, character, display piece or anything else the designer wants to create. The builder then works out the structure, parts and instructions so other people can recreate the model.
That is the main reason MOCs are so popular. They let builders go beyond the official catalog and build something more specific, more personal or more technically interesting.
My Own Creation: a custom brick-built model designed by an independent builder.
How they differ
Official sets are designed and released by LEGO®. A MOC is different: it is designed by a fan builder or independent designer, usually for people who want a very specific model, a more advanced build or a display piece that does not exist as an official product.
Some MOCs are small and playful. Others are large, technical and complex. Many include original building techniques that you would not normally find in a standard set.

How BuildaMOC helps
Finding all the parts for a MOC can take time. You may have to search across different stores, check part availability, compare colors and make sure the order matches the instructions.
BuildaMOC turns that process into a ready-to-build kit. You choose the model, we prepare the parts and instructions, and your kit arrives packed for the build.
Pick a model from our catalog or tell us about a specific custom project.
Our team gathers the parts, prepares the instructions and checks the package.
Everything arrives together, ready for you to open, sort and build.
For companies
Alongside ready-to-build MOC kits for individual builders, we create custom branded brick kits for corporate gifts, trade shows, product launches, employee campaigns and client events.
