Lada Niva / VAZ-2121
Important stuff:
- For all lime and magenta coloured parts in the instructions, you can use ANY COLOUR, since they won’t be visible in the final assembly. Might just save you a few bucks!
- I did my utmost best to keep any errors or inconsistencies out of my instructions. Still, if you stumble upon any mistake, please let me know!
- Your feedback is much appreciated! If you want to share your experience or suggestion, you can contact me at legostalgie@gmail.com or on Instagram under @legostalgie.
The Lada Niva is one of the most potent off-roaders ever made. This little 4x4 can even be regarded as the grandfather of all modern, ever so popular crossover-SUV’s. It was built simple and robust, light, and easy to use in terrain with a permanent 4x4 drivetrain. And, as it is still manufactured (albeit with some facelifting and modernisation), it is the longest running 4x4 still in production in its original form!
This was the first model I designed in my ‘Legostalgie’ series, it all started from here! Some considerations:
- The forward-opening hood gave me some real headache to design… but in the end I think it came out well! Connecting the hood to the rest of the car (step 164) can be a bit tricky, but once it’s on there, it’s solid!
