The brief

What the client asked for, and the constraint that shaped the model.

This kit was based on the Alberta Legislature Building, so we wanted the model to feel grand without making it too large or difficult to build.

The design keeps the main features of the building easy to spot: the central dome, the front portico with columns, the long symmetrical wings, the rows of windows and the flags on the roof. Around the base, we added small trees, flower beds, paths and a front sign to give the building more of its real setting.

It is a larger small-format kit, with 762 pieces, so there was enough room to include architectural detail without turning it into a full display model. The build feels substantial, but still works as a giftable kit.

The finished model gives people a small version of a public landmark they can build and keep, with enough detail to make it feel specific to Alberta rather than just another government building.
